Grilled red cabbage steak with citrus & harissa dressing

Sometimes a sleepless night can be a true blessing. I pictured this dish in my head some time ago, when I was lying in bad trying to fall asleep. The next day I bought a nice red cabbage and run into my kitchen to check if it tastes as great as I imagined. It was even better!

I'm not giving you the exact quantities here. You can improvise and play with ingredients to your taste and liking. What a wonderful little dish. Enjoy! As simple as that! 🙂

Makes 1 serving

Ingredients
  • 1 slice red cabbage (1,5 cm-2 cm thick)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • feta
  • pistachios
  • pomegranate seeds
  • orange segments
  • fresh corriandre leaves
  • pinch salt
For the dressing:
  • 1 and 1/2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp orange juice
  • 1 tsp harissa
  • pinch salt
  • pinch black pepper
Instructions
  1. In a small jar mix all dressing ingredients.

Heat a pan with 1 tbsp of olive oil. Place the cabbage on a pan. Season it with salt.

Fry on a medium heat for a 5-7 minutes from each side until the cabbage is nicely browned and soft. While grilling add few splasches of water which will help to soften the cabbage.

Transfet the cabbage into a plate and drizzle with the dressing while still hot. Set aside for a minute letting the dressing to penetrate the cabbage.

Decorate with orange segments, sprinkle with feta, pomegranate seeds and pistachio nuts.

Season with a bit of freshly ground black pepper.

Sprinkle with fresh corriander leaves and serve.

    Enjoy!

  • Looks and sounds very delicious. I love all the ingredients you used. Have never used harissa in a dressing, I have to try that.
