Simple milk nougat with pistachios

Simple milk nougat with pistachios

Christmas is just around the corner so it is the last moment for preparing something sweet for your beloved ones. Hand made gifts are the best, and if they are edible and what is the most important-delicious, you can't ask for more.

So here you have a little sweet idea, how to indulge someone you love. It is some kind of nougat, or at least a simplified version of this dessert.

Salty pistachios were a great choice as they cut the sweetness beautifuly. I reccommend also using dried cranberries. I have thought about using them when my nougat was already cooling down in the fridge, so it was a bit to late. But pistachio and cranberries combo will be a cracker- I'm telling ya!! 🙂

Makes  20cm x 20cm tin

  • 1 can sweet condense milk (530 g)
  • 0,5 cup fine sugar
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 cup pistachio nuts
  1. Put sugar and milk on a non-stick pan.

Heat them on a very low heat, stirring frequently. Don't go away from the stove- they can burn easily. The mixture should thicken and get the golden colour while cooking. If it starts to stick to the bottom- reduce the heat to minimum.

    Cook it for 30-40 minutes.

In a last few minutes of cooking add butter and stir in in. Thed add pistachios.

Layer the tin with plastic wrap. Pour the mixture into the tin and let in cool down.

Then put it into the fridge so to set completely.

Using sharp knife cut it into small cubes.

    Store refridgerated.
